Messi warned!
Barcelona’s sporting director and former Spain’s first choice keeper, Andoni Zubizarreta has warned Argentine star, Lionel Messi not to leave Nou Camp as doing so will ruin his career.
Messi recently caused panic in Barcelona’s camp when he revealed during the international break that though he is enjoying his stay in Catalunya, he could end up leaving.
Zubizarreta while reacting to Messi’s “I could quit signal” said yesterday that the four-time Ballon d’Or winner would be making the biggest mistake of his career if he dumps Barca.
Zubi told Spain-based Jot Down Magazine that Messi would only remain at his very best if he sticks to Barca.
In Zubi’s words: “ Barcelona offers the Argentine everything he needs to continue performing at his brilliant best. My interpretation is that Leo is content, not because of a permanent smile or happiness, but because he is in a place where he can compete at the level he needs. He is in a club that allows him to be what he is. And if Messi is happy, the rest is easy.”
It would be noted that Messi has since been linked with a number of clubs, including Manchester City and Chelsea. The 27-year-old was Monday named by FIFA as one of the players in contention for this year’s Ballon d’Or alongside Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
